Dato' Mohamed Sharil bin Mohamed Tarmizi

Chairman

Dato' Mohamed Sharil bin Mohamed Tarmizi, a Malaysian, aged 50, was appointed as a Director of Opcom Holdings Berhad on 16 July 2019. He is also the Chairman of the Company.

He graduated with an LL.B (Hons) from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and is a Barrister at Law, Gray's Inn, London.

He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1994 and was formerly an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya practicing with Azman Davidson & Co and Zaid Ibrahim & Co early in his career before becoming a partner in an investment advisory firm called BinaFikir Sdn Bhd which was eventually acquired by Maybank Berhad. He was then invited to join the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), an independent regulatory body set up by a Malaysian Act of Parliament to develop, oversee and regulate the communications and multimedia sector in Malaysia as its Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and was subsequently appointed to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive of the MCMC from 16 October 2011 to 31 December 2014. MCMC was also the regulator for the postal and courier industry pursuant to the Postal Services Act 2012.

In the international arena, Dato’ Sharil was also a Board Member of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the global Internet domain name coordinating body and Chairman of ICANN's Government Advisory Committee (GAC) from 2004 to 2007. Dato' Sharil has worked closely with international organizations such as ICANN, Internet Society (ISOC), International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the World Bank, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT), Pacific Islands Telecoms Association (PITA), Commonwealth Telecoms Organisation (CTO), International Institute of Communications (IIC), Universal Postal Union (UPU) and UNICEF, particularly in the area of training and capacity building and remains in an advisory capacity to some of them. In recognition of his contribution to the global internet community, his alma matter, Aberystwyth University conferred an Honorary Fellowship to him in 2017.

He is presently a Senior Advisor with Quantephi Sdn Bhd, a boutique investment advisory firm licensed by the Securities Commission of Malaysia and a Senior Advisor to Asean Advisory Pte Ltd, a specialist advisory and consulting firm based in Singapore. He also serves on the Board of Directors of LotusCars UK.

In March 2019, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS). He is also an independent director of PrivAsia Technology Berhad. 

 
Chhoa Kwang Hua, Eric

Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Chhoa Kwang Hua, a Male Malaysian, aged 54, co-founded the Company with Dato’ Seri Mukhriz Mahathir in 1994. He is the Executive Director of the Company.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance (Honours) from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts in 1992.

As part of the leadership team of the Group, Eric works closely and guide the business unit heads on both day-to-day business operations as well as the long-term business growth initiatives of the Group. 

 
Lim Bee Khin

Executive Director, Unigel Compounds Sdn. Bhd. 

Ms Lim Bee Khin, a Malaysian, aged 46, joined Unigel Compounds Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Opcom Holdings Berhad in January 2017. She earned a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Monash University, Australia and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She began her career with KPMG Malaysia in 1995. Prior to 2017, she held several Finance and Accounts positions within Opcom Holdings Berhad Group from1997 to 2015. She is responsible for the Group's manufacturing and sales of cable filing compounds and related products. 

 
Yusree Putra Alias

Chief Executive Officer, Opcom Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd.

Yusree Putra Alias, a Male Malaysian, aged 48, joined the Group in 1997. He earned a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 1993. Yusree started his career in Marconi (M) Sdn. Bhd. as an Engineer where he was involved in planning and design, installation and commissioning of fiber optic cables and systems. He joined the Group in April 1997 as a Project Manager and since 2000 has been responsible for Marketing and Sales. He was appointed as Vice President in 2010 and subsequently as Chief Operating Officer of Opcom Cables Sdn. Bhd. in 2014. In the year 2017, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Opcom Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd.

 
Rohiza Husain

Plant Manager, Opcom Cables Sdn. Bhd.

Rohiza Husain, a Female Malaysian, aged 49, joined the Group in 2011. She earned a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Gunma University, Japan in 1993. Rohiza has over twenty (20) years experience in engineering where she was involved in machine maintenance, design/installation and commissioning of new machines and equipment. She is responsible for the Group's fiber optic cable manufacturing activities. 

 
Yeong Wai Yee, Samantha

General Manager - Marketing, Unigel Compounds Sdn. Bhd.

Yeong Wai Yee, Samantha, a Female Malaysian, aged 38, joined the Group in 2012. She earned an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from Institut Sarjana accredited by University of Oxford in 2000. She has over ten (10) years of experience in supply chain management and marketing. She is responsible for Unigel Compounds Sdn. Bhd.'s marketing and sales administration in the Asia Pacific region.

 
Ng Hui Tieng

General Manager - Finance & Administration, Opcom Group

Ng Hui Tieng, aged 44, Female Malaysian, joined the Group in 2017. An Accountant by training, she is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (CCA) and a member of the Malaysian of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She has over twenty (20) years of working experience accounting, finance and taxation in various industries in the ASEAN countries. She is responsible for the overall Group's finance and administration function.
